Chong Yee Leong Appointed To The Board Of Singapore LNG Corporation
The Business Times

The head of the International Arbitration Practice of Rajah & Tann LLP, Chong Yee Leong, has been appointed as a member of the Singapore LNG Corporation ("SLNG") Board. The composition of the six-man Board, chaired by Bob Tan who is the Vice President of the Singapore National Employers Federation,  and the appointment of Neil McGregor as the CEO of SLNG,  was announced on 15 June 2010 by the Energy Market Authority ("EMA"). EMA established the company in June last year to take over ownership and development of the Singapore's first liquefied natural gas  ("LNG") terminal from the previous developer which failed to complete the project due to the past global financial crisis.

With the CEO and Board of SLNG in place, SLNG's immediate priority is the execution and on-time delivery of the S$1.5-billion LNG terminal in Jurong Island.  SLNG will likewise begin its transition from project development and move towards a full-fledged LNG business enterprise.  Its long-term plan is to develop a regional LNG trading hub  in Singapore.

The other members of the Board - who will serve a two-year term - are Koh Kheng Siong, Audit Committee Chairman of SIA Engineering; Ong Boon Hwee, COO of Singapore Power; Lawrence Wong, Chief  Executive of EMA and Mr McGregor.

Date of Story:16 June 2010
